Wilcox Academy completed the 2022 season with a 4-7 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class A region two, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Wilcox Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Crenshaw Christian by a score of 32-6. The defense allowed a team record 405 points last season. Since 2010, Wilcox Academy has gone a combined 63-76. Their 45.3% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Wilcox Academy has managed to compile a record of 144-133. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class A and 19th in the AISA. The Wildcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Lebo Jones as they enter the 2023 season. Over the course of his career, Coach Jones' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times . The Wildcats open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Pickens Academy on Friday, August 25 at Wildcat Field. Last year the Pickens Academy Pirates finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in fifth place in Class AA region two. The Pirates closed out the regular season with a loss to Morgan Academy by a score of 30-0. Wilcox Academy and Pickens Academy have met a total of 18 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 9-9-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2022 with Wilcox Academy winning by a score of 27-20. Wilcox Academy lost AISA All-State defensive lineman Carter Kendrick to graduation. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
